Packing, crates and unpacking
Crate hire, colour-coded labelling, shared-area packing and a day-one unpack crew.
- 2 crates · Per workstation, typical
- Perth metro and interstate

Why this is its own work package
Office packing is a labelling problem disguised as a manual handling problem. Crates are easy. Getting 240 crates to the right workpoint on a floor nobody has worked on before is the part that goes wrong.
Our crate system is colour-coded by floor and numbered by workpoint, so the unload crew places crates without asking a single question, and staff find their own belongings within a metre of where they expect them.
What is included
Everything below is in the base project price unless the proposal says otherwise.
Crate hire and delivery
Standard 68 litre plastic crates, monitor sleeves, IT crates, wardrobe trolleys and archive cartons delivered five business days before the shutdown.
Colour and number system
Each floor gets a colour, each workpoint a number. Labels are pre-printed from your new floor plan and applied during pack week.
Shared area packing
We pack kitchens, print rooms, compactus, stationery stores, reception, first aid and the server room accessories.
Staff pack briefing
A short floor briefing plus a one-page guide covering what goes in a crate, what does not, and what to carry yourself.
Fragile and high-value handling
Artwork, awards, glass and reception pieces are wrapped and crated separately with their own manifest lines.
Day-one unpack and crate collection
An unpack crew clears crates into cupboards and storage on the Monday if booked. Crates are collected on the agreed day.
How it runs
Crate schedule
We calculate crate numbers from workstation count, storage linear metres and compactus bays.
Label generation
Labels are printed from the destination plan, colour by floor and number by workpoint.
Delivery and briefing
Crates land five business days out with a short floor briefing for staff.
Staff pack, we pack the rest
Staff pack their own workpoints Thursday. Our packers handle every shared area.
Uplift and placement
Crates are placed at numbered workpoints during the install, not stacked in a corridor.
Unpack and collect
Optional unpack crew Monday; crate collection on the agreed date, usually five business days later.
What drives the price
Commercial work is quoted as a project price, so these are the variables a relocation manager measures on the site survey.
- Crate count
- Around two crates per workstation, plus one crate per linear metre of shared storage and two per compactus bay, as a planning rule.
- Hire period
- Crates are charged per crate per week. The standard hire is two weeks: one for packing, one for unpacking.
- Who packs
- Staff packing their own workpoints is the cheapest option and the one with the fewest missing items.
- Shared area volume
- Kitchens, print rooms and compactus systems are the most labour-intensive part of any office pack.
- Unpack service
- Charged by crew hour. Most offices book an unpack crew only for shared areas and storage walls.
- Specialty packing
- Artwork, trophies and reception glass are quoted per item because the packing method differs each time.
All figures quoted across this site are sample placeholders for a demonstration website. A real proposal follows a site survey of both tenancies.
Questions we get asked first
As a planning rule, two crates per workstation, one per linear metre of shared storage and two per compactus bay. For 60 staff with a moderate storage wall, that is usually 160 to 190 crates. We confirm the number on the site survey.
Crate hire is a separate line, charged per crate per week, so you can see it and adjust it. The standard two-week hire covers packing and unpacking. Current sample prices are on the crates and cartons page.
Yes. Extended hire runs at the same weekly rate per crate. Tell your relocation manager before collection day and we will leave the number you need.
Personal valuables, medication, keys, passports, wallets and laptops travel with the person. Liquids, aerosols and anything perishable stay out of crates entirely.
