Reusable crates are hired and collected, so there is no cardboard mountain in the new tenancy. Archive cartons are bought outright because they stay with the records.

Crate hire
Reusable plastic crates delivered five business days before the shutdown and collected on an agreed date. Hire is charged per crate per week, with a standard two-week hire covering pack and unpack.

Cartons and archive
Purchased outright rather than hired. Archive cartons are the standard Australian size and fit our depot shelving and barcode system without modification.

How crate hire is billed
- Crates are delivered five business days before the shutdown and collected on an agreed date, usually five business days after.
- Hire runs per crate per week from delivery to collection. Extended hire is the same weekly rate; tell your manager before collection day.
- Lift linings, corner guards and floor runners are included in the project price, not charged as consumables.
- Archive cartons are purchased outright because they stay with the records in storage, where they are barcoded to a shelf location.
- Damaged or missing crates are charged at replacement cost, listed on the crate schedule issued after the survey.
