Why the specialisation matters
A household removalist and a commercial removalist do superficially similar work and almost nothing in common. A house move has one decision maker, no dock booking, no goods lift allocation, no certificate of currency and no comms room. A 214-desk relocation has all of them, plus a building manager who will happily refuse you access at 6:00 pm on a Friday if a form is missing.
Coastline started in 2009 with two tail-lift trucks and a warehouse office fitout contract in Osborne Park. We took AFRA accreditation in the first year, not because it wins work, but because the equipment and depot audits force a standard that is easy to let slip when you are small.
Seventeen years later the pattern is the same and the scale is different: six relocation managers, a depot with sealed module storage and barcoded archive shelving, an IT and comms team that does rack work rather than subcontracting it, and scheduled interstate corridors with recorded seal numbers.
What has not changed is the first hour of every job. Somebody walks both tenancies with a tape measure, photographs the dock and the goods lift, opens the comms room door, and writes down what they find. Everything else is downstream of that.

Measure, do not assume
Every quote follows a walk through both tenancies with a tape measure and a camera. A phone estimate for a commercial move is a guess with a number attached.
Put it in writing, including the bad news
Comms room not ready, basement too low, volume grown since the survey: you get it in writing when we find it, not on the Saturday night.
One manager owns the program
Not a scheduler, a coordinator and a foreman who have never met. One named person from the site walk to crate collection.
Quote the contingency up front
Storage per module per week is on the proposal from day one, because fitout delays are normal and a variation for something predictable is just poor planning.

One relocation manager, named in the proposal
You are not handed to a call centre. A named manager runs your program from the first site walk to the last crate collected, and is on site through the shutdown.

Principal Relocation Manager
Priya runs the largest programs on our books: multi-floor Terrace relocations where the dock window is the hard constraint and every hour is spoken for.
- Led the 1,840 m² two-floor Terrace relocation with a three-hour nightly dock allocation

Callum Beattie
Relocation Manager, IT and Comms
Callum owns the comms room work package. He writes the readiness reports, and he is the reason we send them in writing even when the answer is unwelcome.

- Holds the line on destination readiness before a shutdown date is locked
Anthea Molloy
Records and Custody Lead
Anthea built our custody process. She is the person who insists cartons are barcoded in your file room rather than at our depot, because custody has to start where the records are.

- Runs monthly inventory statements including approaching destruction dates
- Works with practice managers and records officers on retention mark-up
Jarrah Woodley
Operations Manager
Jarrah runs the depot and the fleet. Twenty-one years in and he can still tell you which pantech will not clear a West Perth basement without measuring it.

- Maintains the AFRA equipment audit schedule and crew competency records

Sofia Marchetti
Relocation Manager, Health and Education
Sofia handles clinics, practices and campus departments, where the constraint is rarely access and almost always the calendar: a term break, a clinic list, a semester.
- Coordinates manufacturer technicians for analysers, sterilisers and imaging

Interstate Coordinator
Darren owns the departure calendar. If you want to know whether your consignment makes Wednesday's run to Adelaide, he is the one with the answer.
